Today we left our hotel at 6:30 am to drive from Mekela this morning to drive north 7 hours through some interesting countryside to Axum, capital of the ancient kingdom of Ethiopia.
Farming methods in this area of the country have changed little in thousands of years. Oxen, guided by the farmer with a single plow blade, prepare the ground for planting. You can see the simple plow in the second photo.
